reviews on two-way radios

I like the Cobra 2ways' I got. think they were like $50 or so. I had some motorola's around the same price but the batteries didn't last that long now I know what they gave you a car charger. The lith ion in the cobra's have never even come close to gettin worn down on a cruise yet

$120. Since I posted that I have been doing some research on scanners. From what I have read, that one will work with HPD and Most local police departments, but for DPS your going to need a digital scanner which is about $300-$600. I know a couple of guys at work that are into this kind of thing so I will see what they recomend.

I actually dug my scanner out of the closet yesterday.....

Don't know if I could hear it on the cruise though...

LEO's don't use as many frequencies as they used to... but it would work well in the smaller towns as long as you know their frequencies...

It would be nice to know if the DPS is closing the Highway up the road from you.

well i would like to stay in the $60 range...

I mainly just want one for that one reason, but also if you ever get seperated at a stop light, you could still stay in range even after it turns green again.... espeically if i have to drive the ranger this weekend!

so cobra's the way to go? i was going to try to swing by a radioshack, but if anyone knows where one is cheaper, please LMK!

You can also go the C.B. radio route...LOL As for the scanners, in order to hear a lot of the departments, you need to get a Trunk Tracker. Trunking is using frequencies inside of frequencies, and the rol around, kinda like a rolling code garage door opener. As PlayToy pointed out though, they're not cheap.

I have a couple of Motorolas from way back in the day, but bought a couple of Cobras a couple years ago, and these have much better clarity and range than the Motorolas. I would recommend the Cobras.

You can buy a pair of decent radios for less than $50.

yeah, i just remember buy some two-ways when i was younger and they sucked balls... thought i would get some input from the experts
